This painting shows the view from my studio at Ruby Bay and was painted with the palette knife. The painting is currently on display at Wall to Wall Art Gallery, Nelson.
Most of my little 6” x 8” paintings are done en plein air (painted outside). During the warmer season I like to go out to different locations and paint a little gem on the spot. Outside I usually paint in oil using the palette knife. The little paintings created this way are always special to me. Not only do they show a certain landscape but they also include the memory of how the wind was blowing, the birds were singing and other special things that happened while I was painting.
15cm x 20cm (6″ x 8″)
