It's always great seeing students having fun with their paintings. In this case it is a gorgeous little red tractor painted from life and a painting based on a childhood memory. Both were done at the Waimea College Class Painting for all Levels.
Plein Air Painting at Washbourn Gardens turned out to be a bit of a surprise when we found most of the beautiful flower empty. The council workers were still there, flattening out the beds for the next crop. Never mind we still made due with painting trees, bushes, the workers or the old historic jail. Most enjoyable was going into the next cafe to warm up and have Show & Tell. Here are some photos:
Waimea College Night Classes are starting again: Painting For All Levels: Monday 6.30 – 9.00 pm (6 weeks) A fun and relaxed painting class for the beginner through to the experienced artist. Choose your medium to paint in (eg: acrylics, oils or watercolours). Last Wednesday's plein air painting at Miyazu Gardens, Nelson, was challenging and lovely. The wind was blowing so strongly that painting with a free standing easel would have been interesting. Most of us were satisfied with a little sketch or watercolour painting. Still, the wind managed to blow my materials around and I had to run after them like a spooked chicken. However, the sunshine was beautiful and we enjoyed strong contrasts. Here are some photos:
