Give yourself permission to paint! Especially when you are travelling! Recently my husband and I travelled to Germany and Switzerland. During this trip I managed to paint every day. Some days I managed up to four sketches in my watercolour sketchbook. My husband is not an artist. He likes to go paragliding instead, which was the perfect combination. He would jump off a mountain and I would sit somewhere and paint until he landed again. But even when he was not flying, he was patient with me and read a book while I painting. I guess he knew well that I would be a bit grizzly if I didn’t get at least one painting done during the day. So every day during our trip we took some painting time into account. Having that painting time planned ahead of time, gave me permission to paint without worrying about boring him too much and it gave my husband permission to check his emails, read a book or the newspaper, or jump of a mountain.
