Plein Air Painting, 24th April 2024, “Michael’s Garden”, Upper Moutere

Autumn is here and if anybody has the most gorgeous autumn colours in his garden it is Michael Edwards!

Let’s meet on Wednesday 24th April 2024, 10am at 97 Flaxmore Road, Upper Moutere. This property is very romantic with beautiful trees and other features around a lake, including a  bridge and jetty.  

Please park on the road and make sure there are no more than 3 people on the bridges and jetty at any one time. Also, stay on the house end of the lake since the other side belongs to the neighbour.

Michael advices that there is a public toilet at the Upper Moutere Hall. Also, he mentioned that because of the drought the garden itself isn’t that great, but the autumn colours are certainly there.

Please bring your painting supplies, a chair, bug spray, sun screen, morning tea/lunch, and good weather.

This location is a change to our previously discussed location for that week. We wanted to go to the Hidden Sculpture Garden in Tapawera, but since autumn is coming earlier than usual I was told that we could miss out on the beautiful colours if we waited too long. 

If you have any suggestions on where to go for plein air painting, please let me know and I will include it in the list. Michael’s Garden, the Hidden Sculpture Gardens, 88 Valley Road (Trevor Marshall, autumn), Nelson Port at the end of Akersten Street and Hoddy Reserve are on the list.
