Plein Air Painting

Meet us on Wednesday, 8th November 2023, 10am, at Somerset Farm Settlers Cottage, a historic cottage located at 314 George Harvey Road, Mahana. These are some photos of the Nelson Plein Air Painting Group going to Riwaka earlier in March this year. It was a gorgeous day and we shared some lovely artworks. The Plein Air Painting group is meeting again in September, when the cherry blossoms are blooming.

On our last official Plein Air Painting event we met at Silverbirch Farm. It was a stunning day, perfect for painting outside. The Nelson Plein Air Painting group will meet again at the end of September when the cherry blossoms are in bloom again.

Meet us for plein air painting on 7th June 202, 10am, Silverbirch Farm, 300 Pomona Road, Ruby Bay. Silverbirch Farm offers views over the Nelson Bay towards the Richmond hills or the other side towards Mt. Arthur. There are plenty of chickens, goats, ducks and cows to paint as well.  This will be the last official plein air painting for the season. This is a new location! Let’s meet on Wednesday 24th May 2023, 10:30am (note it’s 1/2 hour later than usual!), on Michael’s property, 97 Flaxmore Road, Upper Moutere. Vicki Cowling has suggested this property because of its beautiful trees, lake, bridge, and jetty (Thank you!!).  Please park on the road and make sure there are no more than 3 people on the bridges and jetty at any one time. On Wednesday a few of us Nelson plein air painting artists went to paint at Gravity Winery, Mahana. It was such a gloomy morning that I didn’t expect us to paint outside but here we were, three enthusiastic artists making it happen. The rain and wind held off until lunchtime.
