It is a challenge and a lot of fun to create a painting when there is no photo reference. "Racing into Nelson Harbour" shows sailboats with a Chinese junk rig. I'm not sure if such boats ever raced into Nelson Harbour, maybe? It helped that I painted a lot at the Nelson Harbour by the Styx Restaurant and was very familiar with the location.
