Watercolour Journaling at Broadgreen and Isel House

I loved seeing everybody's work, it's gorgeous! Watercolour Journaling is a way of painting little keepsakes for yourself. It is about enjoying the moment painting, enjoying the location and creating memories.

Photos of Plein Air Painting at Monaco Peninsula, Nelson

I never thought that low tide can offer such interesting painting subjects. Monaco, Nelson, at low tide turned out to be gorgeous. It seemed that there were more boats around than usual, and we had a surprise school trip say 'hello' as well. The children very much enjoyed talking to us and were just charming. Who knows, they might be inspired to do some art outside one day, too. "Remember, it's a big world out there. Go and paint it!",…

You look at your little painting and remember more about the location where you created it than a photo will ever be able to do. The watercolour journaling class started yesterday and we went to Washbourn Gardens, Richmond. The weather was perfect and the flowers were stunning.

Photos of Plein Air Painting at McKee Reserve

Today's plein air painting at the McKee Reserve started with a gloomy and overcast morning until suddenly the cloud cover opened up and the sun streamed in. Talk about changing light within a few seconds! Luckily most of us had already progressed with their painting quite a bit and it was just a matter of sticking to our colour palette and not changing anything. Something else to remember when you go out plein air painting at the beach is the…
