Plein Air Painting, 9th November 2022, Nelson Port, Vickerman Street

Meet us for plein air painting on 9th November 2022, 10am, at the Nelson Port, Vickerman Street. High tide is forecasted for around 11am and we will have the fishing boats as our subject. The challenge with this location is that there is no coffee shop in walking distance and the toilets are further down the road. Plein Air Painting, 2nd November 2022, Queens Gardens, Nelson

Meet us for plein air painting on 2nd November 2022, 10am, at Queens Gardens, Nelson. The weather forecast looks a bit mixed, but if we are lucky we can still enjoy beautiful reflections in the lake, ducks, seagulls and spring flowers. If it gets drizzly we can enjoy the cafe and exhibitions at the Suter. We had discussed another option (a view point) but it turned out that it requires a bit more investigation (I’ll keep you posted). Also, it is…

Kiwi Classics Collection – Tinned Spaghetti and Tomato Sauce

Tinned Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce is definitely something to get used to. Don't think of Italian spaghetti. It might look similar but the taste and texture is very different. My family likes to eat it hot on toast and it's best when it's heated in the oven with cheese sprinkled over it. Tinned Spaghetti and Tomato Sauce is number six in the Kiwi Classics collections. Tinned Spaghetti and Tomato Sauce Oil on watercolour paper 16cm x 16cm

Why do you sign your painting? Early in your artistic journey you might wonder where to place your signature and how to sign your work. In fact these were the questions I had when I started to paint regularly: Where do I sign? I have seen artists sign in the bottom right hand corner or in various other parts of their work. What medium should I use? It seems like some artist use a pen and others use paint. What…

Current Display at Mapua Library

It's always special to hang artwork in your local community. The library is such a lovely building and although not very big, it has a great selection of books. The staff is so friendly and helpful, it's a real joy to go there. Until mid November the library will display about 13 of my paintings, which are mainly my plein air works.
